Event Description

Eliana invites you to mark your wedding anniversary -- or any other special anniversary with your beloved -- by performing a Random Act of Kindness for each year.  This February, Eliana will perform 28 RAOKs on her 28th wedding anniversary.

This year-long event was inspired by Taryn Davis, and you can read her blog chronicling her recent 10 year anniversary HERE

If you are inspired to participate, please RSVP below with the number of acts you will complete in honor of your day.  We'd love to add them all up at the end of the year!

During 2015, over 300 acts of kindness were performed by Widville members honoring their loved ones!

August 23rd marked what would have been our 47th wedding anniversary. I gave out love notes to homeless on that day and it felt so good that I've continued to do it.

Anyone doing Random Acts of Kindness to honor your wedding anniversary or other special day this year? If you already did, do you have any photos to share? Or just tell us what you did on that special day. Honoring the love we shared by doing kind things for others really does help to get through those days.

I did it for the first time in 2014 for our 45th anniversary with my first return visit to the hospital my husband spent a lot of time in. It was a wonderful morning. Had planned to do the same thing last year, but the 5 year loss anniversary and death of a dear friend had me in a bit of a funk. I didn't feel up to spending time in the hospital that day, so instead I left 'love notes' in books at the library and at the grocery store. Not yet sure what I'll do this year, but it's coming up next month so I need to start thinking about it.

I positively love RAOKs- they have helped me through the holidays and birthdays without my dear Stephen.  I always say it’s better than sitting home crying over cake.  Based upon our experience, there is a great need in nursing homes as there are some residents that do not get visitors.  A card, some lotion or chapstick goes a long way to make someone’s day J  I will be honoring our 26th wedding anniversary later this month with RAOKs.  Enjoyed reading the blog, now what to do….  Planning and executing will be fun and exciting and it’s done to honor him and our life together.

On November 4th, it will be our 10th wedding anniversary - what better way than to do 10 Acts of Kindness.

14 RAOK's on November 30.   I did 13 in November and one was to ask the waitress at Bob's Big Boy to pick someone at random.   The person she picked turned out to be a widower that was sort of down on his luck.    He thanked me and we spoke for a while.  Remember us widows have to look out for each other!

I've done this the last two years and it is a wonderful way to honor my love and that special day. On August 23, I'll be doing 47 RAKs on what would have been our 47th wedding anniversary.
