Widowed Village volunteers for Camp Widow East .... opportunity to volunteer at camp AND at home!

Hello everyone!

This is Janine, the Volunteer Coordinator for Soaring Spirits.  We are busy firming up all of our volunteer needs for Camp Widow East.  Several of you have volunteered to help at camp and for that I can't thank you enough!  We can't run this weekend without the support of everyone.  You're awesome!

We, the board, have had an idea that we'd love to try at Camp Widow East (and if it works then we'll do it again in San Diego in August).  We'd love to have a Widowed Village table that will be constantly manned by at least one Wid Vill member at the camp.  Hopefully everyone will just have a one hour shift, but you may have more if you'd like.

Our goal is to have someone chatting on line in the Wid Vill chatroom as many hours as possible throughout the weekend, with the most emphasis on Friday and Saturday, of course.

This also means that we'll need some Widowed Village volunteers who will be staying home .... we need them to commit to cover the chat room from the other end, too.  We hope this brings out a feeling of inclusion and "oneness" amongst us all .... whether we're in South Carolina, Canada, England, Texas ..... you get the picture.

We're still trying to work the bugs out, but think this could be a lot of fun and make many more of us feel included in the Camp Widow experience.

Of course, we can have people all over the conference "chatting" from wherever they are, but we want to have one dedicated area that's out in the open and where everyone knows to go to be a part of it.

So, for those of you who are definitely attending camp, would you please get back to me (either on here, but hopefully send a copy to janinee@sslf.org) and let me know if you'd be willing and available to take a shift at the Widowed Village Booth to chat .... and maybe answer some questions for those who will be new to the concept.  We may be able to have 2 people in the booth at the same time, it just depends on how many volunteers step up.

For those of you who won't be able to attend <  :(  >  please let me know if you'd be able to "host" some time in the chat room from your home (or Starbucks, or library, or wherever!).  As camp gets closer and I have a good idea of how many volunteers we'll have, I'll be able to hopefully send out a schedule so you'll all know what time your shifts will be (and you'll be able to give me input as to what time(s) work best for you.

I hope you all like this idea ..... we're excited about it and about the opportunity to have us all enjoy the camp experience, whether we're at camp or at home.

After all, we're all in this together, really.

I look forward to hearing from you ..... many of you!!!

in Hope,

Janine
