Are any of you going to Camp Widow San Diego? I attended Camp Widow Tampa in March and found it to be very helpful. I have a group of new friends who I met in Tampa but they are not going to San Diego. My husband passed away in December 2018.

Kathy, I'm not attending this year, but I live in San Diego and I know a few people who are attending.  You can connect with me through [email protected]

I am going. This is my first time to go to one. I would like to make contact with others who will be there. My email is [email protected]

Hi Kathy -

I went to Camp Widow San Diego twice and it was indeed very helpful. I won't be going this year. While Camp Widow is great, it's only one time a year for one weekend so meeting people locally to socialize with on a continuing basis is critical. Check out the events page and find the Soaring Spirits dinner groups from San Diego and Temecula - I've been to the Temecula one a bunch of times and really really like it. Met lovely people there, one of whom has really become a great friend to me.

We currently have 335 widowed people registered for our San Diego Camp. This hotel property is wonderful; the pool area is gorgeous.  If you're arriving on Thursday, stop by Temecula Rooms 1 & 2 to get registered between 3:30-5:30 ... and then pop over to the Tequila Bar by the pool for our meetup that starts at 4:30pm. That's a great place to meet other Campers before things get busy on Friday. It's a casual, come as you are meet and you'll be greeted by our Ambassadors ... Campers who have attended a few Camps previously.

If you're not arriving until late Thursday or Friday morning, no worries. We'll have registration set up in the Lobby Lounge West in the North Tower from 7:30-9am. The General Session starts at 9am and we close registration for that. So if you're arriving after 9 you can just go right into the General Session (San Diego Ballroom B) and then stop by to register after that.

I'll be in the Registration area most of the time, if you need anything at all. I'd be happy to send you my cell number privately if you'd like to have someone to reach out to or you can contact me by email at dianne at soaring spirits dot org

I mistakenly used the Soaring Spirits profile to respond.  I'm Dianne West, Dianne in Nevada here in Widville. I have volunteered for Soaring Spirits since 2013 and attend all of the Camps as a member of the Camp Leadership Team and Volunteer Coordinator. Can't wait to meet everyone!

I’ve wanted to attend for years but always had something financial that came up to keep me at home.  Is it always in San Diego?  How expensive?  May need to budget for next year.

Check their website.  https://www.campwidow.org/locations  There are other locations, and they often offer scholarships, so if you at all interested, please contact them.

We meet in Tampa in March, San Diego in July and Toronto in November.  https://www.campwidow.org/

We'll be adding other "pop up" one day Camps in other locations starting next year. Those locations haven't been announced yet, although we are going to Australia in May to help a non-profit there get a Camp Widow launched.

The Camp registration fee is $399 (although it costs us closer to $800 per person to put on each Camp), and as Shaye mentioned we do have 'camperships' available depending up how many are donated. The hotel can be pricey and many of our attendees share rooms to split that expense. You can note that you want a roommate when you register and our Camp Operations Manager will match you up with someone (she does a fabulous job of connecting the right people). You can stay at another hotel - or some of our Campers have rented places through Airbnb or VRBO to save money.

We have Regional Social Groups throughout the country that meet twice a month locally. I see you live near Denver and we have a fabulous group that meets there. You can find their meet details by searching here:  https://www.soaringspirits.org/regional-social-events or check out their group Facebook page here:  https://www.facebook.com/Mile-High-Widows-A-Soaring-Spirits-Regiona...
