Had a wonderful dinner with Margo Mayhew in London last night- one of the gifts of Soaring Spirits. We also met with her friend from Widows Rights International and her widowed friend...started off the evening with a discussion of whether the term widow should apply to both men and women. Any thoughts?

Hi there CIN_C2006,

Glad to meet you. I'm sure you'll find fulfilling connections here. I was widowed right before my 50th birthday. It made turning 50 that much worse! I lost my oldest son in the same accident. For me, this has been a great place to gain insight.

Not so much.... but hey... it probably means you did something assertive and strong so yes it is... I remember I bought a screw driver with a flower pattern on its handle - lots of fun... and revived my good Ikea furniture building skills..

So I just bought myself a cordless drill/screwdriver I think this is  gonna change my life. As a reward I went to Longhorn Steakhouse for a cold beer and a hot steak. Yes Sir, it is just me tonight but thanks for asking.

Ohhhh...your husband died THIS new years eve...oh...I misunderstood the date and thought it was a year this new years...and even then I thought you could use some more time.

But you said it...your son grieves differently than your daughter and you.  Maybe, it's men, because my son doesn't really like to talk about his "feelings" while my daughter doesn't stop. LOL...Maybe you being a constant presence in your son's home he thinks is making him 'stuck' in his own grief and can't "move on."  Maybe, if it is possible, you oughta consider staying only with your daughter until you are strong enough to make a decision about where you can live on your own???  Just a thought...

Carol, I do thank God for my kids and grandkids everyday. I don't always thank God for their behavior! LOL! Daughter and I grieve very similarly, however son thinks after 8 weeks (this past Friday) I should be moving on, getting over it, even suggested I start volunteering at the Hospice House where John and I lived for the last two months of his life. Of course I'd consider that in the future, but at 8 weeks??? Yikes!
