That's beautiful tooyoung.  I guess the answer is whatever makes us happy.

Carol, I don't know and I feel the same way.  I wear my wedding rings on my left hand and his wedding band on my right hand.

How long before you stopped wearing your wedding band?  I cannot imagine taking mine off.   Carol

Gracie B

I am sorry for your loss. I lost the love of my life December 20, 2017 to lung cancer. I am in the same boat as you. I live in the country too, and all I have left of my family is my sister and niece. I never had children, and my stepson is an hour away, but he's busy with his own life. I haven't heard from him since the night his father died. No close friends near  me either, so now I am going to force myself to get out and about in the next month. I hate having to do this, as it gets so much harder making a new support network when you get older. Maybe Meetup.com will have some groups that you would be interested in? That's the only place I have looked so far for groups somewhat near me (an hour away).

At least us country folks have each other on this site, and while it doesn't take the place of in-person interacting, it's reassuring to know that others are walking this same path

I'm sorry for your loss also...

No no place around here to go, I have a neighbor who has been really supportive,

and who stayed with me the night my husband died, but she is 84...

and she has a family and her husband is still with her..

I am way out in the country....so I have the phone and am able to email and text, but no cell service here...

am 8 hrs from my family, I am working on things, just getting thru every day is an effort..

but it is getting better..

thanks for listening, it is so much a help

Gracie B, I'm so sorry. I'm trying to join groups to make new friends. Is there anything close to you where you could go for support and conversation?

I miss conversation the most. It's so hard to be alone, but this group is so helpful. Please use it as a resource for making friends and maybe getting some ideas to help you move forward.

I wish you all the best, and please keep in touch.

GracieB, I am so sorry for your loss and happy that you’ve reached out here. It saddens me deeply that you have so little support in your grief other than your sister and father. But what gifts they are to you now! It has to be doubly difficult to be so isolated on a farm away from people. Please keep visiting here and letting us know how you’re doing. This is such a painful path and I wish you peace.
