Met my late husband my senior year in college. Ventured to California for ~10 years before having kids. We were good partners and life was good. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in July 2016 and died 2 months later (he was 46). We had 3 kids ages 14, 12, and 6 at the time. Life was a total shit storm for a solid 2 years. Now, I feel like I'm going to power through it. Our oldest will graduate high school in 2020, the youngest is a 4th grader and a happy kid. This is not where I had ever thought my life would go but we are trying to make the most of it. I try to focus on gratitude and recognizing that we still have it great compared to billions of people in this world.
