My husband of 22 years was killed 1 month ago 9-13-13 when an impatient truck driver peeled out of a driveway to cross 3 lanes of traffic. My husband was killed instantly.  He had just that morning donated blood for my total hip replacement 10-1. We met when I was 17. We married on our one year anniversary of our first  date. We have a 13 and 17 year old daughters. I'm handicap so I just work perdiem and my occupation is only one to suppliment an income not support a family. Since my husband…

JH, I know exactly where i was and what i was doing the day your beloved died. It was the day after my Mother's 82nd birthday, when the the doctor from the nursing home told me she had major kidney problems and did i want to do dialysis. The answer was "no" as my mother had been through chemo, strokes, and all kinds of other crap and I knew she didn't want to be poked and prodded anymore. Shortly thereafter I signed off to put her on comfort care and she died on Sept. 22nd 2013. It is strange when I see a date that triggers a memory for me. Somewhere, everyday on this earth, someone is losing someone precious to them.  My sincere warm hopes for you on this journey. We are all in this together, and you are not alone.

Here  in Aust. we have considerable support for those in hardship (through no reason of their own).  However, the info is often hidden.  The type of  support available is:

bill  paying, carers allowance and payments, hardship grants, special health grants for seriously ill patients, Cancer grants, food cards, fresh food, necessary equipment (fridge, washing machine etc).   I  have helped widows and seniors on a voluntary basis to get this assistance.  When NZealand had a disaster I had a friend in need there, so I looked up what assistance was available.  (Cold country so there was even heavy curtains for the windows) amongst other things.

I feel that the widows on this site may well need this type of support and be eligible for it.  I have started to  look at USA  and what it has to offer.  I have found some info for you... See below.  Do not be afraid to apply.  You are in need through no fault of your own.  I have also written to 2 other people I know in USA, for further info.  Also because they are able to speak out for the difficulties and stresses of widows... bring it to public attention.

So here is my first bit of info re hardship, bill paying etc.

you will find ways to get help with paying all types of bills, debts, your mortgage, rent, and more. I There are companies that will help you save on bills.), government programs, tax breaks, and coupons. This is to name just a few of the options available.

Various charitable organisations, churches etc. offer hardship funding. Different ones available in each State.
