- This poem has helped me daily to place one foot in front of the other, to breathe when I would much rather die. It was written by Gloria Landers and given to me when Tommy died: God hath not promised skies always blue, Flower strewn pathways all our life through; God hath not promised sun without rain' joy without sorrow, peace without pain. But God hath promised strenght for the day, rest for the labor, light for the way. Grace for the trials, help from above, unfailing sympathy, undying love.
