Day 1

On March 13, 2013 (37 weeks, 2 days ago), my husband left our driveway at 7:59 pm with a family friend as a favor. At 8:08 pm (which i learned about at 10:17 pm later that night) the car in which he was a passenger missed a curve on the county highway one mile from our home, and hit a tree. My husband was life-flighted to Mercy Medical Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead at age 50.

I was 14 years old, he was 16 when we met. We were highschool sweethearts, best friends, soul… Continue

Every Breath I Take

With Every Breath I Take

I miss you every second,

As soon as I awake;

Every minute of every hour,

With every breath I take.

I see you when I'm fast asleep,

In all my dreams each night;

We talk, we laugh, we sing, we dance;

We hold each other tight.

I miss our walks, our times alone,

Your smile, your love so true.

I miss knowing your feet are somewhere on Earth;

I miss all that…

Hi TomsWife,

Thank you for the friend request.  I am at the 16th month mark. I feel like I am settling into my new normal not that I like it, just resigning to the situation I guess.  I felt I could not just mope around anymore, I am still fairly young (56 this year) and healthy and have been very blessed to have had so many good years being married (33 yrs.)  I don't know how it is for others in our shoes but it was like a light came on and I am pushing onward.  don't get me wrong I still have my crying jags, feeling like being a hermit and wanting to stay in bed but they seem to pass more quickly now.  I was picking out a birthday card for my son and absent mindlessly went to the ones that are from 'mom and dad', then started crying, went to the back of the store and regained my composure and finished picking out my card:)  I kind of went on a cleaning frenzy also.  Cleaned the rugs, washed curtains, cleaned out drawers, etc.  It felt good and physically exhausting.  I find my week ends are the worst if I am not busy and just home alone but muddle along.

I really miss my hubby for bouncing ideas and problems off of.  always something going on or breaking etc., around here!  I wonder if I will ever be able to find someone to share the rest of my life with as I really don't know about being alone for the next 30 years or so...........  Sorry for rambling.  hope you are having a soft day.  ((((Carla )))))
