How do you explain heaven?

Posted on April 12, 2011 at 7:32pm 2 Comments

My 4-yr-old daughter is now aware that Daddy is no longer sick and in the hospital, but that he is an angel in heaven.  Yesterday she asked me if Daddy was a butterfly. When I explained no, that he was an angel and he was in heaven, she asked me what was "heaven" and could she go see him there? So along with crying most of the night, I racked my brain with how to explain the concept of heaven to a 4-yr-old. Any suggestions?

bettboop.....How was your Mother's Day? Are you OK? Significant events can feel like such a set back. I thought I would check in to see how you're doing. Let me know. I'm not fond of Mother's Day anymore myself since I lost both my husband and son :-(

Hi bettboop.  I'm so sorry for your loss, but you've come to a wonderful place filled with those who understand how difficult this is.  I'm also in the Widowed in 2010 group. Joining groups is a great way to get connected to others who have similar experiences.  Request some friends, try out the chat room, just immerse yourself in this very special place. I look forward to getting acquainted with you here in 'Widville'.
