Failing

Many times a week someone will tell me how strong I am, how well I'm taking care of my boys or how encouraged they are by me that I have kept going. I smile and say thank you but inside I feel like a complete and utter failure. Am I the only one?

I lost my best friend & husband, Rick, on April 17th of this year to Acute Myeloid Leukemia. We have two boys who are 10 & 12. When this saga began with his illness in March I did my best to keep the status quo going. I went to work, the boys went to school and Rick managed the best he could at home as he was in-between jobs. I didn't know it at the time but he was really sick and resting most of the day. My son's pain

This is getting harder day by day. My youngest son told me today he didn't understand how sick Rick was when we brought them to the hospital to explain his cancer and prognosis. I remember having to tell him he wasn't coming home anytime soon because of the cancer. I tried to explain it without scaring him but I guess he couldn't accept it. Now he's angry and in pain.
