"I find the "you are so strong" thing odd, too. People are always saying it to me. Because I get up every day and try to give my 11 year old son a decent life without his Dad. What are my options? I guess I could…"
"Hi, Mary, my name is Jean, I was widowed not long after you, on October 9, 2011. My husband had a stroke on March 15, 2010, was in and out of hospital and rehab, in in later September for pneumonia, but recovering. We were making plans…"
"A few days ago, I went to visit a friend who had just had a baby. Holding that little 7 day old being was wonderful therapy for me. Something about the cirlce of life, I guess. Also, my friend has 4 kids (15, 4, 2 and 7 days) and…"
"Mark99, I find your posts very interesting. Ray died on October 9, 2011. Coming up on a year now. I have found it very hard to mourn properly because I have a ten year old son to care for. His needs come first, and although…"
"I am relating so much to what everyone is saying. Ray died on October 9, almost ten months ago. I feel sad that I am getting farther away from his life. I still have most of his clothes, in the closet and in the drawers. I…"
"Dear Live Strong -- My husband died October 9, 2011. We had been married 26 years and together 5 before that. Our son was only 8 when his Dad had the first stroke, and only 10 when he died. His therapist suggested I get him a pet.…"
"Is anyone else out there just mad at everyone and everything? I lost my husband last October. I haven't gone through a phase of being angry with him for dying, but just about everyone and everything makes me disproportionately mad…"
"HI, Phyllis, my name is Jean. My husband died last October. He had a stroke (or maybe two, I got different stories from different doctors) on March 15, 2010. I spent 18 months trying to get the best care and rehab for him. He…"
"Jean, most of my experience is in accounts payable and records management. Unfortunately at my age and having been retired for a year I do not want to go back to work full time. Volunteering is out of the question because we did not have…"
"Hi, Janet, I just got your email about this group. My husband died on October 9, 2011, so we are about the same time out. I am calmer than I was, but still sad. I am 56 and I have a ten year old son, so I have to put his needs…"
"Hi, I lost my husband Ray on October 9, 2011. He had a stroke in March of 2010, had been in and out of hospitals and rehabs, and home. He was getting ready to come home again when he had another massive bleed in his brain and just…"
Jean, most of my experience is in accounts payable and records management. Unfortunately at my age and having been retired for a year I do not want to go back to work full time. Volunteering is out of the question because we did not have life insurance so there is no help there. Trying to do the best I can with what I get from SSA.
I want to do something completely different from what I have done but also want to make a difference in peoples lives. Working full time is not something I want to do but part time would be great for me. I have always liked the legal field and at one point I wanted to be a lawyer to help people. Trying to define who I am at this point is really difficult to say the least.
