"Welcome, Raine's Nana. Good to have you aboard. Sorry for your loss. It is very hard, isn't it? We all understand here and will help any way we can. I am 4 and 1/2 years out now and sometimes it feels like yesterday and at other times it…"
"Hi only1sue. Good to have you aboard. I am 66 and my husband has been gone for 4 1/2 years now. I fill up my time with friends I have met since my husband died and with family. I find that most of the friends from before sort of drift away but you…"
"Couldn't agree with you more, Paulak. We're in quite a predicament, aren't we? I guess we just have to keep living our lives in the most fulfilling ways we can find for each of us. It does get very lonely sometimes though,…"
"Believe me Jordan, if I knew the answer to that I'd tell you. I agree that it would be very nice to have some men in my life other than my sons and son in law! I belong to a group for older people who are alone. We have over twenty women and…"
"Well, my house wasn't quite that big, about 2500 sq. ft. and I didn't have as much land but I just found it overbearing for one person. As I mentioned, I had wanted to downsize for quite some time and I just thought this was the perfect…"
"Well, Cee, I moved because my house was just too big for me to look after and I really didn't need all the space not to mention an inground pool to look after. I was very lucky because my daughter and her family bought the house and I bought a…"
"Weekends are the hardest. I think it's because we know that so many people are busy doing things with their families and partners and that makes us feel more alone on weekends.
Thanks, itaintme. I am really looking forward to this trip. "
"Cee, so sorry you are having one of those days. My husband died four years ago this pst June and I have had my share of those days. I just want you to know that there will be better days ahead. You will never stop missing him but it gets easier to…"
I'm fairly new to this site.... I noticed your post when I got on tonight and thought I'd comment on our similarities. I, too, was born in 1946, and was widowed in June (23) 2008 at age 62, when my husband died at…"
"Welcome, Brandywine Gal. Haven't been on here in a while. Summer has been really hot and quite busy for me too. I thought I'd check in tonight and see that you have just joined. First of all, sorry for your loss. My husband died 4…"
Just checking my e-mail and saw that you were wondering if anyone is using this group anymore. I think we come and go really but never forget that it is here when we need it.
I expect that things may slow down a little in the summer…"
I'm fairly new to this site.... I noticed your post when I got on tonight and thought I'd comment on our similarities. I, too, was born in 1946, and was widowed in June (23) 2008 at age 62, when my husband died at age 63. There the similarities end, however. My husband died after struggling with pancreatic cancer for over two years. Thankfully he was able to retire a little early (in 2002,) thus had six years after retirement. Unfortunately, he was sick the last half of the six years. I miss him immensely.... in my heart I am married to him for eternity. However, we all have to make new lives for ourselves, despite how much we might long for our old lives. I now really understand taking life 'a day at a time.' I make it through each day with lots of prayer, and the support of family and friends..... and online sites like this one.
Hope you had a nice Easter. I've been on this site a bit because I'm on vacation. After Wednesday I'm not sure how much time I'll have. I was thinking this morning that a lot of people in my (our) age may not feel completely comfortable with the internet and may not even know about this site. I just sent the information to a newly widowed friend.
Hi Leslie,,thank you for your friend request. Hope you had a nice Easter. I just got back from my Fl. home two nights ago and I'm still bushed. I don't care for driving so I'll be flying back down from now on. Will write more to you another time,,,Jim
Hi Leslie: Happy Easter! Mixed feelings on this beautiful celebration day - Ted loved this time with the beautiful music and special church events. My husband was originally from Canada(born in Hamilton) so glad to have another friend from there. Blessings.
