I'm fairly new to this site.... I noticed your post when I got on tonight and thought I'd comment on our similarities. I, too, was born in 1946, and was widowed in June (23) 2008 at age 62, when my husband died at age 63. There the similarities end, however. My husband died after struggling with pancreatic cancer for over two years. Thankfully he was able to retire a little early (in 2002,) thus had six years after retirement. Unfortunately, he was sick the last half of the six years. I miss him immensely.... in my heart I am married to him for eternity. However, we all have to make new lives for ourselves, despite how much we might long for our old lives. I now really understand taking life 'a day at a time.' I make it through each day with lots of prayer, and the support of family and friends..... and online sites like this one.

Hope you had a nice Easter. I've been on this site a bit because I'm on vacation. After Wednesday I'm not sure how much time I'll have. I was thinking this morning that a lot of people in my (our) age may not feel completely comfortable with the internet and may not even know about this site. I just sent the information to a newly widowed friend.
