First Anniversary of my loss of my spouse

Posted on March 27, 2012 at 6:00am 4 Comments

Sleepless night, first year anniversary of my Gerry's passing. I spent the day with friends. I went to our local chapter of Band Of Brothers,(he was a Marine) then went to Korean War Veterans Memorial, for some one on one time. Had dinner with some church friends. Then some one on one time with a special friend :)

I couldn't sleep, it was like I didn't want this day to end, still don't and its 3:15 am. What the heck!!

I know from being on here for the last few months that we…

Thanks for being a friend. It so hard for me to move on with my life as far as a new relationship goes. Just taking it a day at a time. Nice to know I am not alone on this journey.

HI Sharon,

Thanks for inviting me to be your friend!  I'm very happy to accept!  I just read your "First Anniversary of my loss of my spouse" and thought it was beautifully written.  I especially like "my window brain". :)  I'm sure that many on here would like their window brain to work better too.  I'm very happy to hear that you think your new life, although certainly different, is is like a new beginning.  That's how I feel too!  It's a new beginning and we just have to allow it to happen and see where it takes us.  Thanks again for being my friend!  I hope today and every day gets better and better for you and for all the many others on WV.  Warm hugs and wishes coming your way! Thank you Sharon for inviting me into your friendship circle.  I sure need them these days. It sure feels isolating being part of this club, then I found this site and wow here we all are.  I look forward to sharing and making new friends.  My name is Marlene and I live in New Hope, PA.  Just before the holidays I started a blog at the encouragement of my daughter.  I use writing/journaling as a way of working through any issues.  I am leaving tomorrow for my first ever cruise...a promise I made to Pat before he died.  I will return on the 13th.  Check out my blog www.widow2single.com  and it will give you an idea of my mindset these days.  Thank you.

Dear Sharon:

Thanks for befriending me.  How are you doing since your surgery?  I am very concerned to find out that it will be 2-3 months before I will be fitted with a prosthesis.  My surgery will be above the knee and I too live by myself.  My name is Carol Ferguson and I now live in Lexington, KY.  I moved here from southern CA as I could not stay by myself and I have relatives here that could help me.  My sister is here and my nephew and his family live here also,  This will be the 14th surgery on my leg.  I had a knee surgery get infected from the get go.  I currently have a fusion which means I can not bend my leg.  That was no picnic either.   Al least for awhile I could move around some and had a little independence.  I am sacred that I will not be able to transfer to a wheelchair or the commode without help.  Any words of wisdom you can offer, would be greatly appreciated.  My regular email address is ferguson@webworldinc.com.  That seems to be easier for me to use right now.  Take care and  God bless.
