Hi Sharon. You can post on a person's wall here in the "Comment" section or you can send a message to their inbox - which isn't seen by others here in WV.  You can either go to the person's page and click on "Send a Message" which is over on the left-hand side of the page, underneath your profile picture and name (you need to be friends first). Or you can access your inbox over on the top right-hand side of the page and can send messages from there. That's where you'll receive messages, too (you'll see a note alongside your inbox telling you that you have a message).

Join the groups that fit you - the year you were born, the year you lost your husband, whether it was a sudden loss or long-term illness - which will connect you with others here who may have similar experiences.

And take a look at the Blogs and Forum discussions to see what we're discussing here. If you have a specific question, you can start your own Forum discussion.

Just jump in and get acquainted. This is a really wonderful place.

Sharon, I have not had good luck with online dating. But even at 47 I was naive and way too trusting when I began dating. Definitely remember that people in general do not always tell the truth on these websites. My husband died almost three years ago and I have had some very lonely times when I have not made the best choices when dating. Everything happens for a reason and I have learned some very good lessons at minimal cost. I hated it when people told me this--But I have found the most fulfillment and solace by "working on myself". I know, try not to throw up-it sounds corny. I have many new interests and a full life and now friends have introduced me to not one but two guys who have been vetted by them and look promising. Hope this helps. Dating again can be a minefield but don't give up--get out there and live!

Sharon, I'm so sorry for the loss that brings you here, but glad you've found us. I hope you'll find the same support and understanding that I have. The groups are especially helpful, as you'll talk to people in situations similar to yours. The chirping noise you hear is the chat window; it's in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Join us when you feel ready.
