Helpful Books and Other Thoughts

I'm feeling frustrated at the moment because I was just finishing a response to Mariposa's post "Sorry, but the Allowable Time Period for Mourning has Expired..." when I accidentally clicked on the X to close the tab as I was going back to it after looking up the correct titles and authors of a couple of books about grief. AAAARGH!!!

Christmas Cards

Part of my Christmas rituals each year include picking out just the right box of Christmas cards to send to friends and family. I have to be touched by the picture on them and the greeting inside. Nothing has touched me this year; they're all so happy and joyful, as they should be, but I'm  not feeling happy and joyful. Bed sheets make me sad

My partner and I didn't live together but he stayed at my place a lot last summer. When I bought my house 3 1/2 years ago I bought a twin bed for myself because I knew it would be cold sleeping alone in a bigger bed, bedding for bigger beds is more expensive, and, because I was leaving an unfulfilling relationship I wasn't at all interested in getting involved in another one, so the twin bed doubled as a statement about my status.

My partner believed life was about experiences. He believed it was important to have lots of different experiences and being an extrovert he was always wanting to go somewhere or do something. He made life so much fun for this introvert.

But now he's gone. I know he'd want me to continue to have experiences. If I felt like it, I could go out and do things....go to movies, go to plays and concerts, community events, travel....but it's not the same. Just doing those…
