We're friends, not doctors, financial or legal professionals, and we're not "grief experts." But we are here, and we've been "there."

When I close my eyes, in the after image of the world still held there, I can catch you standing beside me.

When I close my eyes, I see that sneaky little grin that told me you were about to be up to something.

When I close my eyes, I see the you from before cancer decided to change your appearance but not your heart.

When I close my eyes, the world seems oddly brighter and more colorful because you are there with me.

When I close my eyes, I wish I never had to open them again to look at the empty space where you belong.

When I close my eyes, I can hear your gentle voice telling me you love me and that it will be okay.

When I close my eyes, you tell me to open them and look at the beauty still around me, and to live again.

When I open my eyes, you aren't there in front of me but here inside me, always present always caring

When I open my eyes, I remember to be the person you expected me to be, and to carry on for both of us.

When I close my eyes again, I know you will still be there when I need you, ready with a smile and a little wink.
