Bending to the Storm

I have watched these tall lanky trees from my deck for years

And when the wind blows and the storms come

I have often imagined they would give in

And fall on the house

But no, they are supple and flexible

They take the wind and rather than brace themselves

They bend with the wind

True they lose some smaller branches

But nothing compared to the whole of them

Not resisting but going with the storm

To wake to a new day

Which displays the strength that lies within their limbs

I would pray to be like those trees

And have the fortitude to weather the storm

Yes, it is like bending like trees in going with the storm ...
