WELL, My Dearest,
We made it....our first Fathers Day without you! I have to admit I was a basket case the days leading up to Sunday. Generally, the kids and I would be wrapped up in getting you that "perfect" gift. This year I was going to get you that new recliner you always wanted....your Pammie was sure to get daddy something special and of course Howard was the one to get you something funny. Kevin, our oldest always was the first to call and the grandkids jumped with joy whenever you read their handwritten cards. But we knew things would be different this time. So we decided to keep it simple. I went to Bakers Square and got your favorite pies.....Country Apple and Lemon Supreme! Of course we had to have vanilla ice cream ….you always liked your apple pie a la mode! Your daughter-in-love cooked ribs and I baked a ham...Of course we had to have your favorite Mac and Cheese! Then we piled in the cars and paid you a visit. The Abraham Lincoln Cemetery is awesome! It was our first visit since you were put to rest. Tony, you would be so pleased. You were a proud veteran and now you are surrounded by your comrades. We left flowers and held hands as we each told what we remembered most about Grandpa. Santiago said he remembered the stories you told....Javier said what he remembered most was your reading to him and Francesca said she remembered having fun with her Grandpa. I remembered your laughter. Yes, tears were shed and we have to admit we miss you so much.....but we want you to know we'll be okay! That's what you would have wanted and we are going to try our darnest to fulfill that wish. So, all in all it was a good day!
Love you forever,
