My step father, Dave has it. "The look." I recognize it. Wayne had it starting about 6 months before he died. I'm angry, Dave shouldn't have the look. He's only 76. He fell and broke his hip, had surgery Friday. I was at his bedside yesterday and he looked at me and said, "Don't look so sad, Diane." But, I wasn't looking sad.

Hopefully I'm imagining all of this. He'll be fine.

I know that 'look' you speak of, Diane.  Surgery is tough.  My prayers for Dave and your family ... may that look be replaced with an engaging and genuine smile when you see him next.

Saying prayers for your stepdad Dave.  He will be ok - he goes through alot with this hip replacement.  Justin had a hip replacement and unfortunately he also had maybe 10 hip revisions.  So, I know exactly what it is like.

Justin pulled through each and every surgery - went though emotional stuff - but was ok.

One surgery - I wanted to be with him - procedure was 7:30 am - and I had a strong feeling the nurse that night would of kicked me out of the hospital.  I scoped the hospital out - got myself pillows and blankets and slept in one of the bathrooms.  Yup - you got it in the bathroom where I knew no one would be.  I was there at 5:00 am before they did the prep - and the nurse was surprised I got there so early.  Always was there for Justin.  When that happened we were only married about 1.5 months.

Dave will be OK - you got through alot with that surgery.  My prayers are with you and the family.

Hang in there --- always, Judy
