Widowed Village: Therapist and Pastor Approved!

Strange title for this blog but very appropriate.  This afternoon I had an appointment with my therapist; she was concerned because I changed the date to today and feared the worst.  What she saw amazed her; I was thinner, happier, stronger.  I told her about this site--Hell, I GUSHED about it.  I told her about Arnie's meet up, the great people I met, and the healing done while there.  She was excited for me; she learned about what my former in-laws did and what is happening to me and mentioned that I was handling it very well despite it all.  I credited it to handling the "new me" and having WV on my corner.  Before I left she asked for the web address and if I could get her any literature on the site, AND she put in the record to CONTINUE going to this site as part of my treatment. :D  I thought it was very cool.

Now the Pastor part.  My best friend here in town is a Reverend at a local church.  She is a widow and she handled the memorial service/burial of my husband (much to his parents chagrin).  She has been there for me since night one; she gets it because she was my age when her husband died.  Well before I entered the condo, I told her about my appointment and told her about Arnie's get together.  She wants info on the site to pass along to any widow she may encounter (digital and hard copy of anything).  She said that this place has done wonders for me and she wants others to experience it.  I blushed.

WV...THANK YOU!

Such a wonderfully positive post, Emy. I remember when you arrived and how concerned we all were. So very pleased that WV has helped you become 'thinner, happier, stronger'.

Soaring Spirits Loss Foundation (the non-profit that runs WV, Camp Widow, Widow's Voice) has these great little cards available that you can hand out to those who need to know about WV.  They offer them FREE on their website (or you can make a $20 donation when ordering them; click on the "related item" at the bottom to get to that page). I carry a packet of cards with me everywhere. Here's a link where you'll find them ... and the second link is to the SSLF website.

Shoot, if WV is making you thinner, I need to spend more time here myself. ;-)

I'm glad you feel so supported. It's always a good thing to get validated by our therapist(s).
