I know a couple widowers in an “arms-distance” sort of way. Both have some aversion behaviour with respect to the idea of trying to work through the grief..There have been several comments about their being afraid of hearing something which might serve as a trigger for them, and I actually understand where they are coming from.
I don’t push people.
I am guessing that you are talking about a widowed friend in the context of their acting in a mentor role?
Sort of – I call my wife oldest sister (who got about a 6 month headstart on me with the “widow” thing).
In spite of the fact that I never knew her very well (they never lived close and are quite a bit older)… I’m finding that she is good to talk with.
There is a local woman (1/2 hour away) whom I met at my local Hospice when I had a 10-week grief group. We still speak weekly a year later. And I have some widowed friends I met through Soaring Spirits with whom I regularly email and text.

In that case, No.
Perhaps in time.
