Today is our 30th wedding anniversary. I was to have been retired, we were to have gone to Napa, renewed our vows in front of our children at a favorite winery, and then flown to Hawaii to spend the fall in our newly renovated ocean front condo....
KRYPTONITE,!! Those plans didn't work out so well...
I'm still working, I brought the kids to a favorite San Diego resort for the weekend. We've had a wonderful time together,, and will have dinner tonight at an ocean front restaurant under a gorgeous full moon.
It's different, and it sucks! But it's not all bad...
I enjoy my job, I have a lovely home, and I've been able to complete plans we had made together to make it the place where we could be at peace, our children are fabulous young adults who make the world a better place each day, just by being in it, and still there are KRYPTONITE moments when it all just sucks!

Lensan, I am encouraged and inspired by how you express gratitude for those things that you DO have even amidst the "suckiness" of the way things are. It is certainly a huge feeling of disappointment and perhaps even bewilderment when the reality of our lives is so distant from the hopes, dreams, and plans we had for our future. The krypton it's can weaken us, but it can never truly stop us altogether. I hope that you were able to have a few moments of peaceful and warm remembrance amidst whatever sadness you may have felt on your Anniversary.
