This site is run by widowed people, for widowed people

Widowed Village connects peers with each other for friendship and sharing. The moderators, administrators, and others involved in running this site are not professionals.

Please don't interpret anything you read here as medical, legal, or otherwise expert advice. Don't disregard any expert's advice or take any action as a result of what you read here.

We're friends, not doctors, financial or legal professionals, and we're not "grief experts." But we are here, and we've been "there."

This site has really helped me to address thoughts and emotions that I have held at bay the last 2 years.  I am glad I have an outlet now to 'express' not 'suppress' and post some of my writing to those of you who truly understand. I hope it helps you all in some way - maybe simply in the fact that we understand eachother.

Maybe in heaven it doesn't hurt so much

Maybe in heaven you can still feel my touch

Maybe in heaven you don't cry

Maybe in heaven there is no goodbye

For me, it hurts, deep in my soul

Emotions explode, tears can't be controlled

An ache so raw, it's hard to breathe

I let it all spill out - gain slight relief

But reality, doesn't change - you're still gone

I fumble alone - in this life I no longer belong

You left our daughters in my capable hands

Fighting and therapy now in the plans

We are torn as a family, our home is sad

Each girl now different, since they've lost their Dad

We are lost in our faith; we feel betrayed

Why didn't God listen when we prayed and prayed

How do we mend our broken hearts

They're ripped at the seams and torn apart

Forever without you is how we'll be

Lost, empty shells that drift out to sea
